Best Race Result: I've finished 3 half Ironmans and a number of other olympic and sprint triathlons but none were as much fun my finish at the 2009 Kansas City Triathlon (profile picture). I had a horrible clock time but finishing with my 4 year old son was hands down the best finish ever.

Favorite local bike shop (Name, City, State): Trek Store - Shawnee, Kansas

Current Sponsors: My wife

My current bike(s): Road: Cervelo P1 & Mountain: GT i-Drive

Why I ride: Because for a little while nothing else matters.

Where I ride: In the city, through the suburbs and out into the country. Lots of opportunities for hills out here in KC. Whoever said Kansas was flat should join me for a ride sometime.

I ride when: I'm done with my swim.

When I'm not riding I'm: Playing with my two boys

This year, I want to: Finish every race I start and improve on last years time.

You should really try: A tri. No other sport like it. I don't know anyone who has only done one.

If you're ever in my area, check out: Landahl Park for great single track, Shawnee Mission Park for a great place for triathlon training.

I predict that ________ will win ________: I predict that I will win a race when I'm in the 70-74 age group

The 3 websites I check everyday are: Facebook, Twitter and of course TwinSix.com

The cycling world needs more: bike lanes

Tip #1

If you are doing a triathlon and you have to rack your bike the day before the race - be sure to let some of the air out of your tires to keep them from popping before your race

Tip #2

Get a proper bike fitting when buying a new bike. I didn't before my last long ride - my body still hurts.

Tip #3

When it's 2 lanes of traffic - ride single file as cars approach. It doesn't help the cycling community when you've got 9 cars piled up behind you and your friend while you're both cranking down the road at 28mph. Know the laws and be courteous to things with 4 wheels. It's better for all of us in the long run!

Tip #4

When it's cold outside...be sure to throw on your T6 wool socks!
