First race of the year!

Posted on Monday March 26, 2012 by Dave Frey

Well the first race of the year is in the books. My result wasnt as good as I'd hoped. In the end, I finished well back in the pack. The race course was a new venue for the promoter and the two inches of rain didnt help the affair. Three flats, lots of climbing in the chocolate soup and brake fade created more challenges than I was prepared for. I'm not the kind of guy that makes excuses but lets just say I was off the back before the end of the first lap. I rode hard and METAL the whole race. Hopefully the new TWIN SIX kit is on the way because my Argyle jersey and bibs are done with a capital D. On a positive note, I met and rode with a number of METAL team racers and we kept the METAL side down for the better part of five hours. Nice to share the misery of the day with like minded guys and gals. Thanks to Fast Forward Racing, Mid Atlantic Timing and the Mid Atlantic Super Series for not throwing in towel on the event. Big props to the Forestry guys at Fowlers Hollow State Park for allowin us to race. Hopefully, they'll allow us to race again even though we turned the parks trails into a quagmire. Stay METAL!
