May in Reno, NV could be 95+ or 30 and snowing. In Vacaville, CA, Lagoon Valley and Monticello Cycling hosted the 1st round of the Sierra Cup Mountain Bike Series, and it was predictably hot, exposed, big NorCal crowd, long reg lines, and a late start...but who noticed. Course was killer, big ups and steep sketchy downs. Super fast pace. High attrition rate with low 90's and a ton of sun. Competition was deep in every category, which was nice so I could see exactly where things were. Never a moment without battling with someone, I enjoyed this course all they way to the finish though 11th/28 wasn't exactly what I'd hoped for. The challenge was welcomed, though, and got me pumped up for the next 3 weekends of XC racing.
