ChelanMan Multisport Weekend: 4th Place in division!!!!

A year ago my family and I watched a close friend participate in her first triathlon, ChelanMan.  We had such a good time and the vibe of the entire weekend was so amazing that the four of us decided that we would compete in 2009.  Well, after a year of training and actually doing a few other tri’s our one year goal came to be last weekend.  The entire weekend in Chelan is all about triathlons and running with a half iron and olympic tri’s and a half marathon and 10K all on Saturday.  Sunday brings your sprint, try-a-tri and splash and dash triathlons.  Like I said earlier, it’s a busy weekend!!

After watching my husband best his first tri time by over 11 minutes on Saturday I really had a goal of doing the same myself.  I knew the course very well and even though there were 700 other people competing on Sunday I was actually feeling less nervous than when I did my first back in May.

The swim was far easier than I had been predicting and I transitioned really well from the swim to the bike.  The bike had a nice headwind on the way out which made the hills a little more fun but the ride back was fabulous!  My transition from bike to run needs a little work but I took off and found my groove within the first mile.  I will say that with the temperatures well into the 90’s the finish line never looked so good!

Here are my results:

Overall time: 1:24:53
swim: 6:46:58
bike: 42:39:36
run: 31:59:74

4th place in division
50th overall
24th for all female competitors
