Chequamegon 100

Cable, WI
Saturday May 22, 2010
by: Andy Skoglund

The Inaugural Chequamegon 100 took place on May 22, running through several singletrack loops in the Chequamegon National Forest linked together by the Birkie trail.

My comrades and I shredded at the beginning, took a break at the halfway point, got a little lost, started to slow, mourned the loss of some, and finally limped out of the woods to finish some twelve and a half hours later.

The mind struggles to process the beauty around you while coping with the pain within.  The Chequamegon 100 was exhausting physically and mentally, but any write up here could only do an injustice to the experience.  If you are reading this, sign up and commit to starting and finishing this race next year.  The attached picture is the sight you will be happy to see late one evening next May if you do.
