Firecracker

Eau Claire

by: Devin Curran

Started the day with the Tour and watching the weather. Almost called it again due to what the forecast was. But with a tweet and some map watching we packed up and went.
Lite sprinkles dampened the windshield but that was it,,,payed a large some of money and the kid and I were registered.
Sophia went first and gave it a good go,,,coming through on the start of the second lap she was sitting 5 spot. Buy the end she sprinted her way up into 6th not bad for not touching a bike for 3 weeks.
My turn next.. Good group on the line getting ready for a long prologue loop into the wind. By the time the single track hit I was sitting to 20 we went from a wide open field to single so a bit of stop and go racing.
As things opened back up I settled into to a group that was moving pretty quick. John Gatto was the lead of the train pulling hard and making single track riding look like child’s play. Back and forth we went pulling and pushing the group flying through the woods like stormtroopers on speeders in the forest of Endor. As the last lap started I got pop off the charge as the field went for grass to trees. Pushed hard and finished well, My lucky T6 socks got me through another good race and it was rain free. Good fun and good bike riding can’t ask for more…...
