Sandwich 50 Enduro

The Inaugural Sandwich 50 Enduro took place at Eastwood Park in Rochester on a beautifully sunny May day.  I drove down the night before and slept in the parking lot in order to assimilate myself.  Charly Tri and the rest of the crew had clearly done a lot of preparation and offered up a fantastic course.

The race had everything: LeMans start, tight and twisties, sweepers, downhills, uphills, open prairies, flat corners, bermed corners.  It was great.  Every one of the seven laps contained a few steep uphills that served as the long dark night for some souls, but the early dawn came in the form of a bacon and Hamm’s wielding forest spirit named Ron Moffit.  This cycle made the laps sustainable for me and my rusty knees.  I finished 15th and will be back next year.
