WORS #12 - WIGWAM MTB CHALLENGE

WORS #12 Wigwam MTB Challenge Sunday October 11, 2009

Traveled to Sheboygan, WI for the WORS finale.  Lined up at the start after warming up, chatted with teammate Travis and said good luck to Ben, who was ahead of me in the Age class standings and would likely remain so even if I raced well.  The battle for 3rd place in my Age class was a tight one this year that came down to the final race, only about 30 points separated 3rd from 5th (where I was going in).  Legs were tired from a cross race the day before but I was optimistic that I would have a good race.  Well…that didn’t happen but I had fun and was happy to close out the long WORS season.  Legs felt heavy and sluggish, and on the first lap the guys I wanted to stay with got away as I got caught behind some masters and clyde racers in the singletrack.  Rode a steady pace to 8th in my age category, which was good enough for 5th overall in my age class for the series and 30 points out of 3rd.

On the way home we took the long drive back to Madison along the backroads, which took us through the Northern Kettles and Horicon Marsh.  The fall colors are absolutely beautiful out there, go outside and enjoy them while you can!

Overall I’m pleased with how the mtb season went and surpassed my expectations, while racing with some fast folks and having a lot of fun along the way.  Thanks to T6 for keeping me looking rad all season!
