WORS #12 Wigwam MTB Challenge Sunday October 11, 2009

It’s been a long but fun and painful season! Only racing 3 years now.It been a busy 3 years indeed. Racing Citizen class in 07 then Sport in 08 and now Comps/Cat2s here in 09. The Comp class is fast, long, hard, and full of good humor and all good riders. Comps don’t have to move up a class if you win your age group like I did in my first 2years. So the racing is great! It has taken me this whole year to get faster and stronger and to feel worthy in this class. And there’s lots more room for improvement.

Well at the start instead of Don saying Gooooooo it was some little kid’s voice saying go…Don lined to the right of me and we took off…I was off to a great start - maybe top five into the woods…I think I was winning or second in my age group for at least 2 laps or so. Feeling good but winded. Racing through the woods in the twisty stuff, I caught a skinny tree with my left bar and went down hard….broke my cateye off…at least 6 guys got by me…I ended up catching and passing those guys on the next lap. My chain fell off again in some off camber stuff, so I had to stop again…more riders got by me…I felt great till about the last half lap…my legs were crap! I had to run up the Equalizer with cramping legs -that was tough. I was glad to see the finish line. The track was in perfect condition…The event was fun and seeing Wors friends, and meeting new friends, is always part of the excitement of racing.

My finish time was 1:56:14 44th overall out of 77 entered… 5th age group.
