WORS#7 Alterra Coffee Bean Classic - Andy

This race was rescheduled after a ton of rain fell. It’s local so it didn’t mess up too much. The only real change was my dad didn’t pre-ride with me. He was suffering at the Unnamed Epic.
Mom drove me down and we met my cuz and his parents. Dressed and did a lap. The new skinny’s and bridges were great but I didn’t feel good so I went and registered. Said hey to Kelli and went home and helped my dad unload from his race. In bed and sleeping by 10:30pm.
6am and had some grub and took a shower. Loaded and got there by 8:30. Set-up HQ with the other Extremers. Threw on the kit and did a slow warm-up. It was already cooking by 9. Got a call up and was ready for the Goooooo.
Average start up the hill and I knew I needed to make up spots. Got two early in the cap and then dropped into Kevin’s Heavens. The wave behind me started to push around the last part of the first lap. Singletrack was fast and smooth. First time up Craters of the Moon no problem, the second time I got loose and spun out. Made up another spot or two. The climbs were terrible in the heat but I knew I was doing well. Finished and recovered. 4th… That’s in the money!
Finally some METAL!
Chilled out the rest of the day and cheered everyone on. Great Win Nate and great job Darrin with a close 2nd. Next stop Treadfest. I think I can hear cowbells too…CX season must be close…
